Overview

Reporting to the Director of Engineering, working under minimal supervision, this position will provide detailed technical oversight of various servo actuator systems from concept through final delivery. This role collaborates with assigned engineers from applicable groups to prepare plans and designs, verify and validate technical data packages, and conduct program technical reviews. Project Engineers report in a matrix structure to Program Management to support a program or programs, including budget and schedule preparation and tracking. This position will lead the technical design, development and transition to production of cutting edge control actuation systems (CAS) on gun hardened and space qualified programs.

Responsibilities

  • Internal Engineering interface to program office and senior leadership

  • External interface with customer and vendor technical staff and management

  • Prepare status reports and presentations, and assure that assigned technical SDRLs are appropriately prepared and submitted for assigned programs
  • Support program tracking/reporting in IMS and variance analysis; develop plans and work-around plans
  • Monitor technical projects for progress and scope, and complete SOW technical tasks while avoiding unplanned work or scope creep
  • Work closely with Engineering management to communicate project technical needs, staffing requirements, and schedule and budget of a project
  • Ability to obtain Secret level security clearance desirable


Qualifications

  • BS in Engineering
  • 8 years + experience in technical leadership roles
  • 5 - 8 years experience in Project Engineering
  • In depth knowledge of aerospace requirements and requirements management (e.g. DOORS or jama usage): Requirements verification matrices, derived requirements from customer to internal functional groups and down to suppliers and sub-tiers
  • Systems Engineering experience a huge plus
  • Working knowledge of aerospace specs and standards (i.e. IPC, MIL-STD, MIL-SPEC, NAVMAT, NADCAP, IEEE, DID)
  • Strong base understanding of engineering disciplines and knowledge of manufacturing techniques
  • General technical understanding of projects, from requirements to product test
  • Ability to create and track project plans in Microsoft Project
  • Strong communication, leadership, and team building skills, with the ability to lead a cross-functional integrated product team
  • Demonstrated competence in technical writing of plans, reports, and proposals
  • Knowledge of EVMS or EVMS-lite preferred

  • Experience with AS-9100 and CMMI Level 3 desirable
